Still No Sign of Missing Fishers From Payo, Bato

Two weeks after they reported that their boat had capsized in rough seas, three fishermen from Panganiban town have yet to be found.

Romeo Bruma, 25, Jeffrey Tatad, 30, and Ruel Lumbao, 22, all of barangay Cagdarao, was last heard from at 2 P.M. of Oct. 14 when one of them sent a message by cellphone that their motorized banca had capsized off the coast of Hiyop, Pandan. The trio had set off from sitio Cabacungan on Oct. 12 to catch fish. The report reached the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council two days later.

The police said a search and rescue operation had been initiated by barangay residents but the missing fishermen had yet to be found. The trio joins two other fishermen from Bato missing in the Pacific Ocean for a month now.

Four fishermen from Tambongon, Viga, who were reported missing Oct. 9, were more fortunate. After making it to the shore of Siruma, Camarines Sur when they got lost and drifted due to strong winds and waves, they are now back with the families.
